Disaster Recovery has become a hot topic in the world of IT – in this case study we look at an example of how one of our clients is dealing with the issue in partnership with us. ArvinMeritor is a large multinational automotive supplier with a parent company based in Troy, USA. ADECS Profita have been working with their Leicester Site for several years, acting as an outsourced IT department which often involves liaising with other areas of the business, particularly the European IT team based in Holland.
In the last few months, Jonathan Howells, the ADECS Profita Customer Services Manager, has worked closely with ArvinMeritor to complete a business continuity plan. This covers all aspects of the business for the Leicester branch. IT is a significant part of this as their IT system is integral to what they do, as is the case for most modern organisations.
The business continuity plan is now finished and fully documented. Key elements of it include:
Procedures to follow for each eventuality
Monitoring processes
Identification of critical systems
Priorities should a system rebuild be required
Secure storage of software
Action plan for sourcing hardware if required
Contact sheets for external parties e.g. Sage Accounting
Assigned roles within the Disaster Recovery Team
At ADECS Profita we have a wealth of expertise in disaster recovery and business continuity. It is a key concern for most organisations now, and we continue to work with our clients to develop their strategies.
This subject was covered in the Knowledge Forum workshop “Disaster Recovery Planning” that we hosted in early December. If you did not attend and would like a copy of the slides please register an enquiry here.
